| Integration
Our second primary
focus on the systems has been integration. Integration clearly
refers to much more than having a common interface. Rather the
interdependence of the operations each of the subsystems automate
must be taken into account. Various examples of failure of integration
can be sited in systems that have been deployed in universities
including independent operation of finance from student information
systems, failure to create computer accounts based on SIS data,
failure of human resource data to be identified automatically by
library systems etc. We have painstakingly tried to identify the
interdependence of the systems and have come up with a complex integration
plan to fully satisfy the needs of the universities. The illustration
below describes the interdependence of these systems.
In addition various
external systems, including computer account directories, payment
processing systems etc. might play roles in the functioning of the
colleges. Our intranet system provides the ability to integrate
with these predefined systems and comes with provisions for exchanging
data with other future external system with limited disruption of
operations.
Furthermore, access
to all this systems is attained through a single log on and synchronization
of accounts and passwords with the required privileges automatically
set by the system to ascertain no breaches occur.
We believe that the
above integration plan provides the maximum level of seamless intranet
system any university can strive for.
