| Koha
The Koha open source
library software is built based on the Fourth-Generation web-based
online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), circulation, and management
interfaces. Koha is platform independent ILS; i.e.; it works in
all hardware architecture and operating system platforms.
Koha's OPAC, circulation,
cataloging and acquisition interfaces are all based on standards-compliant
World Wide Web technologies like XHTML, CSS and JavaScript; making
Koha a truly platform-independent solution. There's no need to deploy
extra client software or worry about older clients on network. Koha
will work with web any browser.
Koha is built using
library standards and protocols that ensure interoperability between
Koha and other systems and technologies, while supporting existing
workflows and tools. These standards include MARC and Z39.50. Koha
supports the full MARC21 and UNIMARC standards and features single
or bulk MARC import and export functions, as well as an integrated
MARC editing tool for in-house original cataloging or editing of
records. MARC21 format will be used as Meta data standard. |
